This morning (07/12/2024) I had a shining example of female solidarity.
My neighbor, a pure-blooded Italian, single and childless, rang to complain about stains and dirt on the stairs caused by me, my dogs and the people who frequent my apartment which, she specified "I have to check", is the first "de visu" approach after numerous shots taken in condominium chats (to be fair, some of them are well-founded).
Recognizing a tragically well-known and redundant, almost "cyclical" attitude (any reference to the female cycle is probably intentional), I did everything I could to avoid arguing, and I almost succeeded BUT, when the reproaches about my life became personal I found myself forced to respond, I did it not with observations but with questions ....
In fact, at a certain point the punctilious young lady reproached me for having given hospitality to a person who she said "I let sleep in the garage".
Given that the accusations regarding the garage are unfounded, the question came to me spontaneously: "but ... and ZORRO? (fictitious name) ... have you ever scolded ZORRO?".
In fact, ZORRO, a non-Italian national and self-styled observant Muslim, has notoriously let two people sleep in HIS garage for almost a year! Something that, recognizing the difficult state of these people, as well as that of the one I host, does not particularly bother me, but on which I would have expected very different reactions from the meticulous young lady.
Not receiving any answers from the young lady, I ventured to ask another question, at that point out of pure curiosity, since Mr. ZORRO is married to a very young girl, who is forbidden even to greet anyone outside the clan, especially if male.
The Islamic prohibitions on ZORRO's wife probably also extend to answering the doorbell and (unimaginable) opening the door of the condominium! In fact, the postman has complained several times about not being able to deliver ZORRO's mail and recently he started abandoning registered mail for ZORRO to the elements outside (all the mailboxes are INSIDE the building).
From all this came curiosity and a question to the meticulous young lady, I asked her: "but you, as a woman, don't you mind that there is a person who is forbidden to even answer the doorbell?" ... And ... I found the answer wonderful in her solidarity: "but is it illegal?", and to be honest I had to answer "NO" (It is worth remembering that in the Sharia slavery has never been prohibited ... and it could not be since Mohammed, in addition to raids on caravans, also lived from that and that in the Ottoman Empire the slave trade reached 60% of the GDP).
I was still in shock from the answer when, back in the apartment, I drew the logical conclusions: to the meticulous young lady, who has always lived with the standards of freedom and expression guaranteed by the Western world, it does not matter that a woman is forbidden even to respond to a Man's greeting or to open the door of the condominium to the postman who brings a registered letter of certain family interest, the important thing is that there are no stains or hairs on the stairs!
